The Warrior King

There he sat most proud

The warrior king in peace

The battle master

Fear and terror long since ceased

Hail the conquering hero

Peoples champion

Not yet the time to step down

Lesser men may frown

For if the hordes should return

His mighty sword will rise up

Heavy on his brow

From so young has the crown sat

He would not give in

Albeit old scars screamed out

His heart, his soul; the peoples

When comes his passing

The old king with sword in hand

He will take his leave

The kingdom will cry, will mourn

His memory will go on

I’m feeling the presence of Owain GlyndΕ΅r in this, but then again I read a lot of history when I was little, so maybe I’m just associating the abstract with my childhood sense of romance. Seeing what I want to see. Maybe this is about Conan the Barbarian or no one in particular. Either way, wonderful words JC. I felt something, even if I was off the mark.

I love the air of triumph here. The words seemed to take me to a faraway place in the past, yet it could easily be transferred to the present. Great work.
