Inspired by the great painting.
Standing there
Lord of the lands
The reigning Monarch
Of all he surveys
Royal blood coarse’s
Through those veins
Under regal muscle
And ceremonial red hide
Upon his chivalrous brow
His crown of splender
A symbol to others
Of majestic prowess
His stance is strong
Rooted to the rock
That has supported
generations before him
Humbled; grounded
By the ancient stone
He presents himself
In reverence of those gone by
Knowing his time
In this precious life
Will come to an end
As Mother Nature demands
He serves his cause
With dignity and purpose
Until his fellow brethren
Call on him for the last time
