War

This one, written last month, was a combination idea from a game I was playing at the time and an unfortunate topic that recurred in nightmares I used to have as a teen. Odd combination I know but I’m afraid it did inspire this harrowing thought.

War

For what!!

To celebrate the audacity

Of a mushroom cloud

Aftermath

No one left but

The ruined statues for

The millions dead

Who will never see

Just mutilation

Left to rot and decay

And wash away

In storms of acid rain

A ravaged earth

Torn apart

Bludgeoned

And scarred

Not even the essence

Of history

Will morn this troubled

Landscape

As the ash of a

Previous existence

Now rests in

Polluted air

Where memories die

Not even their ghosts

Want to wonder

A dead world

Proud nation after

Proud nation

Felled one skyscraper

After another

Its people culled

In the name of peace

And protection

Of one another

Or so the Powers that be

Proclaimed

When they pressed the button

And all for what!!

The Creed – Archangel White Wolf

Okay, before you get on your high horses, I’ve had permission to do this by Archangel; who I have to say I love… His blog, I love his blog: Phew!!

Unfortunately, I couldn’t actually reblog his page so big emphasis on:

  • I did have permission
  • I did not write this

I must admit though, I’m kinda glad I couldn’t reblog as it gives me the opportunity to really big up this writer. Light bulb moment ‘Bloggers as Special Guests’ hmmm??

Yes, Archangel White Wolf; go check out his blog. Brilliant verses, brilliant rhyme, great imagery. This piece was of particular interest to me because of it’s theme. I love the fantasy genre, among other things, and I really love the Assassins story.

So without further… Okay shutting up

The Creed by Archangel White Wolf

creed

We’ve worked in secret

Both near and far

We cannot reveal

Just who we are

We’re your friends

Family and lovers

It’s true

We do this because

Of our love for you

Where others cannot

We stand and fight

For we work in the dark

To serve the light

A Duel of Light and Dark

Brothers in arms

How did it come to this?

A prophecy to bring hope

Misled it did, designed to deceive

No matter now

The notion, the attempt

To talk down this volatile scenario

Just too late, soured by lies

By greed, by anger

By a lust for power

And so it begins

A sudden violent movement

Against an equally skilled opponent

A falling Avalanche

Into a barrier of blades

A duel to the death

One from light

The other in darkness

But from who’s perspective

A Tyrants trick on a lost soul

Dancing in lethal partnership

Their blades cracked and hissed

With every clash made

A Flash with every brutal encounter

And then locked face to face

Partnered in some macabre dance

They pirouette, somersault

Vault around each other

Each avoiding the lethal sabers

Trying to counter their opponent’s next move

Adrenaline Surges through their veins

No more the sparring partners of old

These titans of the force

Of light and dark unbalanced

Each now committed to a lost cause

They battle on at fever pitch

With such severity and malice

Such pain, suffering and remorse

Neither can retreat now

Each with a different purpose

Attack after counter attack

The battle rages on

Parry, Lunge, Swing, Block

Florescent lines are drawn

On a darkened stage

Like some Shakespearean tragedy

There is no hope of redemption

A conclusion has to be enacted

Until that final curtain falls

On a decided, fateful outcome

The Titan’s square up one last time

One with the advantage

While the other blinded by arrogance

Takes the chance

Only to fall by the hand of his brother

Falling from the sickening flash

As a lightsaber cuts through flesh and bone

Dismembering and cauterizing

What’s left of its victim’s limbs

It is done

The death of a Jedi

The birth of a sith

But who is really who

Brothers no more

How did it come to this?
